JUNE PERG FLOYD

June Floyd was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and has traveled and lived throughout the United States and Canada.

Beginning at age seven, Floyd studied music. This continued until age 16, and after high school and college, she completed her education as a registered nurse. Prior to her retirement, Floyd was employed by the State of Georgia, and the State of Florida, and for the last five years of her work, she operated her own business as an independent administrative nurse consultant. In 1992, she and her husband retired in Phenix City, Alabama.

It wasn't until 1998 that Floyd was finally able to fulfill her dream to paint. Until that time, on film she captured sunsets, sunrises, rainbows, seascapes, and landscapes from around the United States and Canada. In 1998, she began receiving instruction in acrylic painting from well-known local artist, Milton Lenoir.

Floyd is a Founding 2000 member of The Joseph House Gallery Cooperative in Columbus, Georgia, a member of the Columbus Artists Guild, a member of the Phenix City Art Council in Phenix City, Alabama, and a supporter of the Columbus Weracoba/St. Elmo Preservation Society and the Historic Columbus Foundation.

Floyd has participated in "Phenix City Art Expo" in Phenix City, Alabama; The Phenix City Art Center Open House; the painting of a 24 by 100 foot mural on a wall in Idle Hour Park depicting the history of Idle Hour Park during World War 11. The mural included paintings of the roller rink, swimming pool, boats, planes, ferris wheel, roller rink, and zoo.

In addition, in Columbus, Floyd participated in the Columbus Artists' Guild "Wild and Wonderful-Tall Tales" held at Miriam's Cafe and Gallery where funds were donated to charity; 4th annual "Arts in the Park", sponsored by The Weracoba/St. Elmo Preservation Society; the Columbus Artists' Guild 2000 Members' Art Exhibition; "Uptown Alive" by displaying her artwork in The Olive Branch Cafe in Columbus; "Arts on the River"; the Grand Opening of The Joseph House Gallery Cooperative; and the Mini-Art Christmas Tree by the artists of the Joseph House Artists. Proceeds from the sale of the Mini-Art went to benefit charity.

Currently Floyds paintings can be viewed in the the Phenix City-Russell County Library, the Phenix City Art Gallery, various local restaurants, doctors offices, and private homes. They have also been on display at Miriams Cafe and Gallery, The Olive Branch Cafe, and Luna Azzura in Columbus, Georgia. In addition, her works have been distributed throughout the United States.
